Birth Ecology
Project
The Birth Ecology Project, founded by
massage therapist, doula, and writer Kara Maia Spencer, advocates
for the birth of a sustainable future through midwifery, doula
care, gentle birth, conscious parenting, and sustainable living.
The exceptional Birth Ecology Journal
includes articles, first-person stories and reviews on topics of
interest to parents, birth professionals, and birth advocates. In
addition to the journal, the website offers interactive forums, a
list of events, recommended books, and links to related resources.
Workshops for parents and professionals are also planned.
Birth Ecology is dedicated to "creating
community, healing and honoring the inherent wisdom in ourselves
and nature". As the lovely article "Birthing in
Balance" concludes, "Nature is infinitely wise and
powerful. Nature loves to procreate. We call our planet 'Mother
Earth' and refer to the living force of creation on our planet as
'Mother Nature'. We are all co-creators of life."
